MANILA, Philippines - Promising and talented college students around the country are encouraged to participate in the 8th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit (AFLBS) to be held August in Cebu City.
Since 2006, The Aboitiz Group brings together 90 of the country’s top college students for a two-day event that will hone the participants’ business and leadership skills.
The summit is one of the many programs under the Aboitiz Future Talents Program, which also accepts interns and scholars. To date, The Future Talents Program has taught over 60 interns and helped close to 50 college scholars.
“We are proud that the Aboitiz Group has made an impact on the lives of the youth through our programs. We want to help prepare the summit participants to face the corporate world and pass it with flying colors. This is part of the Aboitiz Group’s commitment to education as our primary corporate social responsibility project,†said Txabi Aboitiz, senior vice president and chief human resource officer of the Aboitiz Group.
The annual gathering of students is the Aboitiz Group’s way of preparing potential youth leaders for the corporate world while solidifying their faith and hope in our country.
“By giving them this opportunity, we hope that the participants will also do their share to help the younger generation become future leaders,†Aboitiz said.
This year’s theme is “Significantly Changing My Philippines.†Delegates will participate in plenary discussions, games and team building exercises that simulate real work and business situations. Activities have been designed to prepare the participants for their critical role in nation building. Their learning experiences are aimed at motivating them to respond to the everyday call of leadership.
The summit is also expected to foster relationships not only among delegates, team members and the Aboitiz Group but also establish networks with CEOs, executives and other industry leaders.
Interested participants who are Filipino citizens, not more than 25 years old at the time of the summit, and an incoming 3rd or 4th year student (for four-year courses) or 4th or 5th year student (for five-year courses) taking up Business Management, Accounting, Communications, Political Science, Information Technology, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, Psychology, Economics and Law may apply. They must also belong to the top 20 of their class, be an active leader or officer of any student organization, have excellent communication skills, and are not facing any disciplinary case inside or outside the campus.
