MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government has allotted P3.5 million for the establishment of a scholarship program for deserving residents who cannot afford to enroll in graduate courses.
The program was created after Mayor Herbert Bautista signed into law an ordinance authored by Councilor Aly Medalla which seeks to enable less fortunate residents to take up higher education courses.
The budget for the initial implementation of program will come from the budget of the city’s scholarship for youth and development program.
According Medalla, the graduate scholarship program is consistent with the local government’s plan to make the city the knowledge capital of the country.
