MANILA, Philippines - The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will launch commemorative stamps in honor of Don Ramon Valera y Oswalds, National Artist for Architecture, Design and Allied Arts (Fashion Design), in celebration of his 100th birth centennial last Aug. 31, through Proclamation No. 291 signed by President Aquino declaring the period from Aug. 31, 2012 to August 2013 as the centennial year of the National Artist.
Likewise, the House of Representatives has issued House Joint Resoulution No. 22, introduced by House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. and Reps. Neptali Gonzalez II, Edcel Lagman, Salvador Escudero III and Ma. Jocelyn Bernos.
The commemorative stamps will be launched tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the NCCA Leandro Locsin Auditorium, with NCCA chair Felipe de Leon, Jr., executivedirector Emelita Almosara, Philpost executives and National Artist’s Valera’s nephews and nieces.
