Dusit earns EarthCheck nod

MANILA, Philippines - Dusit Thani Manila has been awarded a Silver level certification by EarthCheck, an international environmental management and certification program designed for the travel and tourism industry.

It helps determine a company’s standard of environmental, social, and economic performance and requires compliance with internationally recognized standards, including reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and consumption of natural resources.

Dusit Thani Manila submitted a year’s worth of operational data as well as third-party auditing to verify their claims.

Among Dusit’s environmental initiatives are the use of recycled materials such as pads and pencils, using reusable rather than disposable items, promoting unrefined natural ingredients and the practice of Dusit Green Hour every last Saturday of the month, a 60-minute hotel-wide lights off campaign that has been going on since June 2009.
