RCBC's environmental gift to Marikina City

-

MANILA, Philippines - Women empowerment, corporate social responsibility and environmental care merged for Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) when it conducted a tree-planting activity along the River Park district of Marikina City, part of an outreach program that aims to improve the lives of the people in the communities.

Showcasing its exclusive-for-women product, the RCBC e.Woman checking and savings account, the bank invited Miss Philippines Earth 2011 beauties led by Miss Philippines Earth and newly crowned Miss Earth Water Athena Mae Imperial, Miss Philippines Water Murielle Adrienne Orais, Miss Philippines Air Jonavi Raisa Quiray, Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism Tarhata Clio Shari Rico, and Miss Philippines Fire Michelle Cavagan.

Marikina City Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz welcomed the RCBC delegation led by SVP Loi Paloso and VP Edwin Frias. Cadiz expressed his city’s gratitude on behalf of Mayor Del Reyes de Guzman.

The bank planted 50 partially grown balete trees along the riverbank to serve both as shade and as protection against soil erosion during flooding.

Bank executives and the beauty titlists also hosted a lively learning session for grade school students of the Industrial Valley Elementary School. They taught about the importance of saving money and also shared stories and tips on how to care for the environment.
