Meralco bags global CSR award

MANILA, Philippines - The corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and its corporate foundation, the One Meralco Foundation, were recognized in the recently concluded Global CSR Summit held in Cebu City.

Meralco bested other companies from the region as it bagged the Silver Award for Best Community Program category for its successful implementation resulting in poverty alleviation, better education opportunities and stronger community participation. 

Meralco was awarded together with Indika Energy (Indonesia) and Citibank (Pakistan) as the Bronze and Gold Awardees in the same category, respectively. Meralco Chief CSR Officer and One Meralco Foundation President Jeffrey Tarayao received the award in behalf of the company.

The Global CSR Awards is one of Asia’s most prestigious recognition programs for corporate social responsibility recognizing companies for outstanding, innovative and world-class products, services and projects and programs.
