Outstanding OFWs, balikbayan feted

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s new breed of heroes – overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and balikbayans – were given the Gawad OFW and Ulirang Balikbayan Awards in the recent 7th Mega Balikbayan OFW Expo held at the SM Megatrade Hall.

According to event organizer Michelle Ballesteros, the awardees were feted for their valuable contribution in helping OFWs and balikbayans reintegrate into the country’s economic and social mainstream. The winners represent various foundations, corporations and private organizations working for the welfare of OFWs and balikbayans. The annual Expo and awards also featured investment opportunities, family-oriented special events and Christmas bargain shopping for OFWs and balikbayans.
