MANILA, Philippines - The Boy Scouts of the Philippines announced the winners of the search for the 10 outstanding Boy Scouts.

The winners were chosen from the 25 finalists representing the 10 Scouting regions in the country and were selected from among the hundreds of candidates from 112 local councils nationwide.

This year’s winners are: Amen Purificacion (Rizal Council), John Lorenz Leoncio (Palawan Council), Christopher James de las Alas, (Agusan Council), Jeffrey Dy (Manila Council), Eugene Lester Lin (Manila Council), Harvey Arvin Li (Manila Council), Prince Descartes Jode Ciriaco (Iloilo Council), Mico Martin Mallillin (Cagayan Council), Kyzel Dagdag (Iloilo Council), Leslie Ryan Go (Cebu Council).

Exclusively sponsored by Coca-Cola Export Corp., the annual search is the biggest event in the scouting calendar for the country’s 2.5 million scouts. The nationwide search begins in July and culminates in the awarding ceremonies this month as one of the highlights of Scouting Month.

The contest is for Boy Scouts (10 to 17 years old) and Senior Scouts (13 to 17 years old), who are Filipino citizens, currently registered and at least third or fourth year high school students.

Winners of the search receive two-year college scholarships, cash and other prices. Among the criteria are community service, which refers to leadership or membership involvement in school-related activities; character development and bearing; and interview including communication skills and personality.
