Principals undergo training

-

MANILA, Philippines - PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC), Malayan Colleges of Laguna, the Department of Education (DepEd) and the E-Media Program of ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI) forged a partnership to empower local governance of public schools through a Leadership and Development (LEAD) management training program.

Since 2007, PERC has been championing public school excellence through its various development projects for public schools in Laguna, particularly those around the foot of Mt. Makiling.

Recently, close to a hundred school administrators and senior teachers from public schools in Laguna and Batangas gathered at the Meralco Development Center in Antipolo City for an intensive two-day leadership and management training aimed at preparing school administrators to develop comprehensive school improvement plans attuned to societal needs.

This planning exercise supports the DepEd’s key reform thrusts included in the Basic Education Sector Reform Agenda (BESRA) aimed at attaining the Education for All goals by 2015.

AFI recognizes the pivotal role school principals play in the delivery of quality education and works to institutionalize exceptional school-based management practices aimed at sustaining improvements in students’ performance and teacher development.

PERC focuses on improving public school teachers’ competency in teaching Mathematics and Science subjects.
