Tondo kids learn money matters from Citi, Museo Pambata

-

MANILA, Philippines - First graders from Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo, Manila take part in learning activities on money – earning, saving, spending, and sharing it. Through a grant from Citi Foundation, Museo Pambata staff and Citi volunteers conducted arts and crafts sessions and games to about 1,000 first graders. The learning sessions were designed to familiarize children with money and how significant it is in their lives.

To further the children’s learning experience, Citi Foundation and Museo Pambata gave the children and their teachers copies of the Money Matters for Kids workbook and playing cards, also funded by Citi. Workbook author and Museo president Nina Yuson spoke to teachers about how the workbook and cards can be used in the class subjects they are teaching. Yuson says, “When we start them young, children can grow up to be wise savers, careful spenders and smart consumers.”
