Rockefeller to join 'Lead the Change' in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Peggy Dulany Rockefeller, founder and chair of the New York-based Synergos Institute, will be in Manila for Knowledge Channel’s “Lead the Change: An Evening of Discussion for Action” on Feb. 17.

Lead the Change will address the key drivers of poverty reduction: health, governance, population, environment, peace and, most important, basic education. Leaders from business, government, civil society and philanthropy will exchange action ideas to help Filipino children learn better.

Dulany Rockefeller, the fourth child of American banker David Rockefeller, started her career in social work and philanthropy through an organization founded by her father, the New York City Partnership, which links corporations and government in “philanthropic projects like youth employment and low-income housing.” She has served on more than 30 nonprofit and corporate boards, and works with the United Nations on health care and family planning-related endeavors.

Synergos, founded in 1987, “addresses global poverty and social injustice by supporting and connecting leaders so they can work in collaboration to change systems that keep people in poverty.”

In Manila, Dulany Rockefeller will meet with members of the Global Philanthropists Circle and visit a Knowledge Channel connected school and a relocation site of Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig. She will also hold discussions with the Building Bridges Leadership Journey workshop participated in by young potential leaders from different sectors of society.
