PHSA slates "Tayo na sa Makiling"
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) will hold the second phase of adjudication activities for PHSA scholarship hopefuls on May 18 to 22 at the school’s Mt. Makiling campus. The 100 participants were screened during the 2009 annual nationwide search for young arts scholars held in 16 Regional Audition Centers (RAC).
Dubbed “Tayo na sa Makiling”, the graded workshops will be facilitated by PHSA’s resident teachers and guest artists/educators. Also included are sessions on time management, study and library skills, dormitory living, and nature walks.
The goal of “Tayo na sa Makiling” is to identify the most eligible aspirants who will be given scholarships by the school. Each qualifier will be offered full Special Secondary Education scholarship for school year 2009-2010 which includes, among others, free dormitory accommodation, meals, and a monthly stipend.
Those who will not qualify will be placed in the waitlist category as probable replacements for those who will eventually decide not to accept the scholarship award.
A separate orientation on school mandate, scholarship agreement, manual for scholars, academic support and behavior management programs, foster care and family programs, and other support mechanisms will be conducted for the parents and legal guardians accompanying the participants.
