Eala hits ground running for US Open bid in New York

MANILA, Philippines -- Preparations are underway for Alex Eala ahead of the US Open.
Eala has arrived in the Big Apple and has started to train for the Grand Slam, the US Open posted on Sunday morning.
She was seen training at the Arthur Ashe Stadium -- the largest tennis stadium in the world -- about a week before the start of the US Open’s main draw.
The Filipina is expected to be a seeded player in the tournament.
The 21-year-old, ranked 20th in the world, has been on a roll this season. She has reached career-high after career-high in rankings, and, according to the WTA live rankings, she is expected to reach No. 18.
The main draw of the US Open will be unveiled later this week.
Eala got her first win in the Grand Slam in last year’s US Open after beating Clara Tauson in three sets. She, then, bowed to Cristina Bucsa in the second round.
The Filipina made history in the 2022 US Open, when she became the first Filipina to win a junior major title.
