Chinese nabbed in Makati for grenade, gun, drugs

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese national was arrested on Saturday after police discovered a grenade in his rented hotel room in Makati, leading to the recovery of an unlicensed firearm, suspected illegal drugs and a bladed weapon.
The suspect, identified only as “Lin,” 38, was nabbed in Barangay Palanan.
Police said building management of a hotel along Filmore street reported the discovery of an unexploded Mk2 hand grenade inside Unit 403, which had been booked by Lin and his partner.
A search of the room allegedly yielded a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and two Ecstasy tablets.
Police said Lin had also booked Unit 306, where he was found with a 25-year-old woman.
Authorities recovered a .45-caliber handgun, a Swiss knife, another sachet of shabu and a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue.
Police are preparing complaints for illegal possession of explosive, firearm and ammunition, drugs and deadly weapons against Lin.
