CEBU, Philippines — A total of P5.4 million in financial assistance has been distributed to 27 barangays in Mandaue City under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program (BBMP) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The Liga ng mga Barangay Mandaue Chapter received the funds, which were distributed at P200,000 per barangay.

The checks were turned over to the barangay captains during a ceremony last July 31.

Of each barangay allocation, P100,000 will be used for five scholars under the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program.

The scholars are fourth-year college students selected by their respective barangays.

Each scholar will receive P20,000 as a “Finisher Fund” to help cover school expenses as they complete their studies.

The remaining P100,000 per barangay will be used for priority projects, subject to the guidelines and policies of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The BBMP is being implemented through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) of the Office of the President.

The turnover was held at the Mandaue City Session Hall and was attended by Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano and Congresswoman Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon.

The program provides financial assistance to college students while also allocating funds for priority projects in the participating barangays. — (FREEMAN)
