Baldwin pinatawan ng ‘perpetual ban’ ng UAAP

MANILA, Philippines — Tuluyan nang ibinaba ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board ang pinakamabigat na parusa kay dating Ateneo De Manila University head coach Tab Baldwin.

Nagdesisyon kahapon ang UAAP na i-ban habambuhay si Baldwin da­hil sa nangyaring pagka­lunod nina Blue Eagles players Rene Baterbonia at Divine Adili sa kanilng team-building activity sa Dipaculao, Aurora noong Hunyo 8.

Dahil dito ay hindi na pu­wedeng magpunta o ma­kisali si Baldwin sa anumang UAAP competitions at activities “in any coaching, administrative, advisory, or official capacity”.

“He is also prohibited from entering any UAAP competition venue. This sanction is final and shall not be appealable,” naka­saad sa UAAP Board statement.

Ang naging desisyon ng UAAP ay mula sa pag­rebisa sa isinagawang in­ternal investigation ng Ateneo at ang official reports ng PNP-CIDG at NBI ukol sa pagkalunod nina Baterbonia at Adili.

Suspensyon naman ang ipinataw ng UAAP kina Ateneo team mana­ger Epok Quimpo, assistant coaches Dean Caesar Castaño, Sandro Soriano, Reynaldo Jacinto Jr., Hernan Ameer Domingo, Caesar Vincent Elumba at Grant Dearns at physical therapist John Eric Rueca mula sa partisipasyon sa lahat ng UAAP competitions at activities.

Kagaya ni Baldwin, hin­di rin sila maaaring pumasok sa alinmang UAAP competition venues sa isang official capacity.

Walang ipinataw na pa­­rusa ang UAAP sa Blue Eagles men’s basketball team at puwedeng maglaro sa Season 89.

“The Board also recognizes that the Ateneo men’s basketball student-athletes are themselves victims of this tragedy,” sabi ng UAAP.
