ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — President Marcos turned over yesterday P453.8 million for initiatives addressing hunger, food security and community development in Zamboanga Peninsula and Sulu.
During the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program at the Western Mindanao State University, Marcos handed over P19.6 million for Zamboanga City, P138.2 million for Zamboanga del Norte, P136.2 million for Zamboanga del Sur and P77.8 million for Zamboanga Sibugay.
Earlier in the day, Marcos handed over P82 million in socio-civic project fund (SCPF) to Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan.
Marcos said each of the provinces’ barangays would receive P200,000 from the SCPF, with half of the amount to be used for scholarships.
Aside from the distribution of SCPF, the President witnessed the surrender of 195 high-powered loose firearms in Sulu.
Tan said the surrender of weapons reflects the people’s rejection of violence and their support for the government’s peace and order initiatives.
