Goodyear backs DMF Drift Team in Formula Drift Malaysia

-

MANILA, Philippines - Goodyear Philippines continues its support for the DMF Drift Team as they compete in their second bout in an international arena in the Goodyear Formula Drift Malaysia on December 19 to 20.

“We are proud to support David and the DMF Drift team in the next leg of the Formula Drift Series in Malaysia next month. David showed great potential in the competition and his team represented our country proudly as they interacted with and gained the respect from the best drifters from all over the Asia Pacific region, including the Formula Drift organizers and officials,” said Gerry Alava, Goodyear Philippines Managing Director.

ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) and Goodyear have joined forces to the launch of the inaugural Goodyear Formula Drift Malaysia, where ESS will be the event organizer while Goodyear continues to raise its racing profile as the event’s title sponsor.

The event, to be held at the MAEPS (Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang), will see over 50 competitive drivers from across the Asia-Pacific region pushing their rear-wheel-drive cars to the limits by demonstrating impeccable precision and vehicle control. With drivers hailing from as far as Japan, New Zealand, Philippines and Hong Kong, as well as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and of course, Malaysia, Goodyear Formula Drift Malaysia promises to be an adrenaline-pumping event packed with raw action and colossal energy.

“I am confident that David will vastly improve on his performance after gaining experience in Bangkok, so we are looking forward to some great competition,” Alava added.

The DMF Drift team, headed by David M. Feliciano, is again the first Filipino team to compete in the series. Upon returning from Thailand, the DMF Drift Team loaded with insights from their experience immediately went to work in preparation for the next event in Malaysia.

“The experience in Thailand made me realize that drifting is not about slipping and sliding, but about power and control. I learned that to compete at this level the choice of drift tires do matter. You need the right tires with responsive grip and handling to be able to take a wide drift angle using a force generated by those high powered 350++ horsepower engines. Goodyear proved they have the tires to win with the 1-2 podium finish in Thailand,” said Feliciano.

All of Team Goodyear’s vehicles participating in the Formula Drift 2009 are equipped with Goodyear’s ultra high performance tires such as the Eagle Revspec RS-02, Eagle RS Sport and Eagle F1 Asymmetric, all with proven reputation for excellent grip and control for the best performance in international drift competitions.
