MANILA, Philippines - The mobile education intervention Text2Teach won the Gold Standard Award for Public Private Partnerships, in ceremonies held in Hong Kong recently.

Given by Public Affairs Asia, the award recognized Text2Teach’s success in implementing an innovative education project that harnesses the strengths of business, government, and nonprofit sectors.

Started in 2003, Text2Teach is a partnership project of Microsoft, the Department of Education, Globe Telecom, Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, Pearson Foundation, and Ayala Foundation. In 2015, it is poised for mainstreaming into the public elementary school system, with a target reach of 203 education divisions, over 38,000 schools, and a staggering 3 to 4 million students every year.

Present to receive the award in Hong Kong were Joie Janeo-Lopez, Ayala Foundation senior director for programs; JR Demecais, Ayala Foundation lead for Education; and Mei-Ling Tan of Microsoft Mobile.
