Joven Ignacio sets “Amoroso” for the benefit of young Filipino musicians

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation is pleased to present the watercolor works of painter Joven Ignacio in “Amoroso” on June 21. The exhibit runs from June 22 to July 6 at the ArtistSpace of Ayala Museum. Ignacio is one of our country’s much-admired watercolor painters, known for showing intricate elegance and capturing tranquility in his works.

â€œAmoroso” showcases more than 30 works of Ignacio’s “Kuroda Series,” inspired by the cloth called alampays or balabals worn by the older Filipino generations. Ignacio fully explores the transparency of watercolor painting. The free movement of the paint on the canvass – uncontrolled yet deliberate in expression and the challenges of how we can experience artistic frame of mind through tradition and craft.

Proceeds from this art exhibit will benefit the MCO Foundation’s Young Artists’ Development Program. The MCOF, now on its 29th year, is committed to its mission of supporting young and highly-talented classical musicians through performance opportunities, free master classes and workshops by master-artists.
