MANILA, Philippines - A fashion show featuring Arnel Papa’s dazzling fashion jewelry was the highlight of the recent “My City, My SM, My Crafts” event at SM City Marilao.

Some of the country’s beauty queens including Miss Tourism World Philippines, Top Model of Asia and Best Model of the World 2012 Joy Marie Gangan; 2010 Binibining Pilipins World Czarina Catherine Gatbonton; and Model of the World Philippines 2013 Elle Hollman, modeled Papa’s dazzling works on the runway.

His accessories, made from crystals, stones and carabao horns, have been featured in top magazines and are sought after by the country’s stylish set.

As expected, the showcase was also a hit among mallgoers.

There is an earthy rawness to his range of fashion items; a trademark that is a direct effect of his personality.

Inside his highly regarded factory in Marilao, Bulacan, Papa – together with more than a hundred artisans – works with Philippine indigenous materials and combines these with brass and copper materials sourced throughout the archipelago.

“My City, My SM, My Crafts” is a campaign that highlights traditional arts and modern Philippine design in cities where SM has malls.

It is a partnership between SM, the Bureau of Domestic Trade of the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Philippine STAR with support from Center of International Trade Expositions and Missions, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
