MANILA, Philippines - Tanghalang Pilipino opened its 26th season this month with the delightful and endearing children’s musical “Sandosenang Sapatos,” featuring wheelchair and rollerblades, a sapatero and a diwata, and a little girl with a big voice and an even bigger heart that had audiences alternately laughing and crying. Constantly stretching boundaries not just of theater but of what an arts company on a shoestring budget can do, TP enters its second quarter century with renewed commitment and vigor, with a cast led by three diverse characters whose talents, skills and expertise, when pooled together, could very well spell a blockbuster season – and seasons to come – for the company.
