The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Following the success of a series of tests on the latest technology in wastewater management in 2012, McDonald’s Philippines inks its commitment to contributing to the environmental sustainability efforts of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA).

In 2012, McDonald’s Philippines took a giant step towards innovation and environmental responsibility in the implementation of a comprehensive program to successfully install an effective technology that manages waste water compliant to the standards of the Clean Water Act.

This year, McDonald’s will be implementing a phased-in installation of wastewater treatment facilities in 45 stores with the Laguna de Bay Region commencing in July, continuing until the end of 2014. Further to this agreement, all new stores to be built within this period will already be installed with wastewater facilities.

LLDA has also committed in helping facilitate the installation of the facilities, securing permits and space, and further research and development in finding better solutions for wastewater management that McDonald’s Philippines will undertake.
