Kris on Kris: 'Motherhood is the most challenging yet also the most fulfilling'

MANILA, Philippines - Despite her incredibly hectic schedule and myriad commitments, Kris responded immediately – by text – to questions STARweek sent to her also by text. STARweek thanks our colleague, Entertainment editor Ricky Lo, for facilitating our text interview.

STARweek: Daughter, sister, mother, actress, celebrity…of all your roles in life, which is the most difficult, and which is the most fun?

KRIS: Being a daughter was easy because Mom loved all of us so much and wanted us to be the best we could become.

Being a sister isn’t difficult because I’m law abiding and extremely honest with paying my taxes.

Being a celebrity is my career and my choice – the good and the bad I accept because this career has helped me provide my sons with a comfortable life.

Motherhood is the most challenging yet also the most fulfilling. Josh has special needs and we must all work together to help him develop and discover his talents. Bimby is me all over again, an endless barrage of questions and outspoken opinions!

STARweek: In the four-and-a-half years left of your brother’s presidency, what do you want to achieve for the country, for your brother/family, for yourself?

KRIS: I am proud that my sister Pinky’s Agapp has turned over more than 200 preschools or Silid Pangarap. I will be able to give her 5 this year as part of my contract with a new endorsement. Pinky is extremely hands-on and I feel privileged to be able to help her achieve her dream of early education for Filipino children.

I’d like to believe that I established myself as Kris Aquino beyond being the daughter of my parents or the sister of Noy. In the future I see myself still being in entertainment but already as a producer and not as the talent. That is the career progression I’m hoping for.

STARweek: 25 years ago you were our cover girl when your mother was president. Now, 25 years later, you’re our anniversary cover girl when your brother is president. In 25 years do you think perhaps you’ll be on our cover as the president?

KRIS: 25 years from now I’ll be 65 – a bit old na for the presidency which requires so much energy and stamina…Mom always said the presidency is a matter of destiny. I don’t know if it’s a part of my destiny.
