Ricky Lee's new novel out soon

-

MANILA, Philippines - The long wait for Ricky Lee’s second novel is finally over! The book Si Amapola sa 65 na Kabanata (originally titled Aswang), will be launched on November 27, 3 pm at the Skydome, SM North Edsa. It is a political satire set in the popular hang out T. Morato in Quezon City, about Amapola, a gay impersonator, who becomes a manananggal and is destined to save the Philippines.

Lee is more known as a screenwriter, with over 160 produced movie scripts to his name with countless awards for films like Anak, Madrasta, Moral and Himala, the Viewer’s Choice Award for CNN’s Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

He has published a total of 8 books. His first Novel, Para Kay B (Kung Paano Dinevastate ng Pag-ibig and 4 out of 5 sa Atin) has sold 30,000 copies in two years. Trip to Quiapo, a scriptwriting manual now serves as textbook for MassCom courses across the country. His classic collection of articles and short stories entitled, Si Tatang at ang mga Himala ng ating Panahon, has become a part of Filipino Literature studies. Lee’s other books include film and stage play scripts.

“Filipinos love to read, proof is the sales of my first novel. Someone just has to bring the books to them, which was what I did and am still doing. I do book tours, school tours, and I accept talks and forums from Batangas to Bicol to Davao; anywhere there is an audience ready to listen, and, of course, to read,” says Lee.
