Voyages In Music

The world is a truly remarkable place: The Philippine Madrigal Singers have been extremely privileged and blessed in their travels – seeing the beautiful sights of the world and witnessing the equally beautiful spirits of the people they have interacted with along the way. 

In celebration of the reflections of greatness in the human soul, the Philippine Madrigal Singers – the Madz – have reached out to choirs from all walks of life with the Madz Et Al network since 1981.

This year, the newest and brightest yet in a storied and inspiring run, the Madz recognize the Filipino’s own reflection of wonder with “Voyages: A Wonderful World of Music,” a musical festival continuing the proud Madz Et Al tradition produced in cooperation with the Phil-Am  Life and General Insurance Company.

Running from May 7 to May 12 at the Philamlife Theater, UN Avenue, Manila, the festival begins at 7 p.m. each evening and features various choirs from all over the Philippines.

May 7 features the following choirs and conductors: MILK Children’s Choir (Oscar Pantaleon), Manila Chamber Singers (Joel Aquino), Coro Cantabile (Sharon Abesamis), Woodrose Chorale (Lala Kliatchko), NAPOCOR Chorale (Anna Abeleda-Piquero), and University of the East Chorale (Anna Abeleda-Piquero). May 8 brings us the Philippine Male Singers (Robert Delgado), Lifeline Chorale (Warlito Yalung), Anima Christi Chorale (Joel Boragay), St. John Mary Vianney Parish Choir (Marivic Llamas), and  UP Los Banos Chorale Ensemble (Joey Vargas).

On the next day, May 9, audiences will witness performances from the Pfizer Chorale (Oscar Pantaleon), Supreme Court Chorale (Fred de Santos), Coro de Sta. Cecilia (Chris Borela), TransChorale (Robert Delgado), Our Lady of Fatima University Chorale (Warlito Yalung), and Coro de San Sebastian (Elsie Eranista).

May 10 will feature the Ateneo College Glee Club (Malou Hermo), Novo Concertante Manila (Arwin Tan), Cultural Center of the Philippines Chorale (Arwin Tan), Caltex Chorale (Oscar Pantaleon), PAG-IBIG Fund Chorale (Fred de Santos), Chorus Paulinus (Fred de Santos), and Global Holdings Inc., Chorale (Oddette Galura).

May 11 proudly boasts a lineup including the Kilyawan Boys Choir (Mark Anthony Carpio), Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir (Oscar Pantaleon), Maryknoll Sanctuary Choir of Baguio City (Joey Soliman), KHP Coro Techniuv (Steve Collado), Shrine of Jesus Academy Children’s Choir (Mary Louise Macanaya), and Koro Ilustrado (Romel Lomarda).

Wrapping up the festival on May 12 are the Magsaysay Chorale (Joel Aquino), Adventist University of the Philippines Celestial Echoes (Warlito Yalung), University of Makati Chorale (Elsie Eranista), Pansol Choir (Mark Anthony Carpio), and the POEA Chorale (Marvin Gayatgay).
