The time has come for the Philippines to celebrate another grand event, dahlingsthe introduction of natural gas from our very own resources, the Malampaya deep water gas!
Seven major energy companies joined hands to make the fuel of the future beneficial to every Filipino. The Dept. of Energy together with First Gas Power (fgp), Shell, Napocor, pnoc, Texaco and Keilco created a vision to fully utilize natural gas by linking it with power generation.
The splendid celebration, palanggas, was held at The Forts Tent with over a thousand foreign and local guests. Giles Puno, svp and chief finance man of fgp, welcomed guests, citing the celebration as a tribute to all who played a part in the ten-year-old Malampaya project. But it was a "Night of the Oscars" as Shell boss Oscar Reyes and First Phil. Holdings boss Oscar Lopez took center stage.
Three wide screens, dahlings, were set up for an audio-visual presentation, the highlight of which was the evolution of Malampaya, its present status and future projects.
Adding more spark to the celebration, violinist Jay Cayuca played as fireworks lit up the sky and, as the LOC Band played, everyone danced the night away, all for the success of Malampaya!
Friends of la simpatica Conchitina Sevilla Bernardo, adorable wife of businessman Lanny Bernardo, dahlings, now our ambassador to Spain, was given a super fun despedida lunch at the chic-y Manila Golf Club. A great day it was for all the society ladies of the lunch-bunch, but a sad one too, with the thought that their dear pal Conchitina was leaving our shores. The Bernardos have left for Madrid to assume their post.
Remember, palanggas, "Fear will leave us when we remember that Jesus Christ is with us." Smile. See you.
