Taters and phones

- Maurice Arcache -
If there is still doubt that the Philippines, dahlings, is the acknowledged mobile phone hub in Asia, the recent launch of Motorola’s new wireless wonder, the Motorola i85s, should put all doubts to rest.

The launch at Makati Shangri-La was hosted by TV newscaster Rod Nepomuceno, beautifully complemented by sisters-2 Raya Mananquil and Rissa Samson. On hand to formally unveil the phone was Francis Ng, regional manager for business development and sales of Motorola, who flew in from Singapore, assisted by Mel Festejo of Nextel, exclusive local system provider for the new product.

The Motorola i85s, palanggas, is the first mobile phone that combines the capabilities of a personal digital assistant (pda), two-way radio, interactive pager and internet-ready mobile handset. It is also the first to carry Java applications to allow users to download Sega games. Other features include voice activation, voice recorder and customizable menus.
A rave party in the mall? Trust Taters to pull it off!
A fever-pitch dance party rocked Robinsons Place in Ermita when Taters Stadia opened, with hip club music, a Lipton bar show, Lucky Strike dare game and a parade of Taters gig food.

Channel V’s Trisha Chiongbian and Taters’ Ian Ardiente led the fun, and the creative brain behind taters Ana Maria Tanchanco gathered the cool set like Howard Belton, head man of Unilever; Frederick Go of Robinsons; Taters chairman Isagani de Castro and other Taters people Eugenio, Patrick and Evelyn Moniusguren, Leonardo Tan. Annie’s classmates at AIM Juan Miguel Ongsiako, Jay Tambunting, Wallace Panlilio and Joel Peña came, plus the de la Salle football team, cheerleading and pep squads.

Remember, palanggas, "Don’t let problems get you down–let them remind you to look up to our Lord Jesus Christ always." Smile. See you.
