Z.C. Birthday Bash
July 22, 2001 | 12:00am
Think of the grand balls of Europe as Cosmo Manilles high society trooped to the Inter-Con ballroom for Zeny Cabrals costume ball birthday party. The celebrator was dressed up by costume king Lito Perez as Cleopatra, with Fanny Serrano doing the make-up. Jun Jun Ablaza put masks on each table, and used tall topiaries and huge antique statues from Jo-Liza Antiques to complete the ambiance. Ladies came in fancy period costumes, gentlemen came in tuxedos and formal barongs.
The highlight of the celebration was the Emperors Waltz, performed by 20 pairs, among them Fely Schweitzer and Johnny Pilapil, Myrna Borromeo and Eki Cardenas, Roi Philips and Johnny Tanchanco, Erika Markham and Jun Arroyo, Fe and Ernie Yu, Aurora Perez and Raul Villegas, Dandy Gomez and John Gaddi, Marissa Han and Danny Wieneke, Baby Ortiz and Ramon Gustilo. A special exhibition of the English Waltz was performed by Rosemarie Zamora and Russian world champion Mikhail Birun.
Dancing followed the champagne toast as confetti canons were fired, apres which Zeny C. gave her speech of gratitude.
One of the worlds favorite airlines showed us the sights and sounds of London at the sprawling residence of British Amb. Alan Collins to cap the two-week art and retail exhibit, "Quality Britain".
BA magnum executives Andrew Crawley and Mark Russel jetted in from Sydney and Hong Kong to grace this event, joined by BA-Phils. workasonic staff led by Violy Echevarria, Natalie Puey, Marissa Saavedra, Lor Ang and the rest of the BA rah! rah! team.
Socializing around the breezy garden were Dunhill Intls David Coleridge, former Finance Sec. Jose Pardo, travel industry hotshots Lulu Villanueva, Jennette Lista, Joy Abrogar, Mila Suarez, Marilou Ngo, Gina Comanda, John Rocha.
A rousing musical presented by BA included hip tunes, with lyrics changed to promote London! as the premiere destination and gateway to Europe, led by sales exec, Let Carlos with JM Rodriguez, Rachelle Gerodias, Joan Cano and Joel Baluyot.
Remember, palanggas, "Whenever we trust the power of our Lord, we experience peace, not panic." Smile. See you.
