La Cena de los Amigos

- Maurice Arcache -
The colossal, eye-catching Makati Shangri-La, dahlings, held its must-go affair recently, La Cena de los amigos at the Quezon Ballroom. La Cena, palanggas, is a chic gathering of Spanish-speaking colleagues from different industries, invited by the hotel’s Numero Uno Latino, Señor Juan Carlos Diago, no less.

The evening, indeed, was a night of fun and great conversation among hot shot members of the chic-y Hispanic diplomatic corps and top management of leading corporations, the likes of His Excellency Joao da Silva Cayetano of the Embassy of Portugal and el nuevo y simpatico Ambassador Tomas Rodriguez Pantoja of Spain; Brazilian Chargé Carlos Augusto Carvalho and his Mexican counterpart Hector Mendoza.

Just as exquisite as the guest list was the special menu, dubbed "A Last Meal of Cheval Blanc" by mega chef Eric Costille because this event is one of the few major activities lined up prior to one of moi’s favorite restaurant’s closure for renovation. Chef Costille’s dinner menu included lentil cream with pan-fried chicken liver and crispy bacon, pan-seared red garoupa on a bed of angel hair pasta, lamb consomme with butter and diced tomato. For dessert, guests couldn’t get enough of the sinfully calorific but oh so yummy cherry upside-down cake and vanilla ice cream.

Apres dinner, it was more social circulation before the VIPersonas headed for home. It was a fantastic night of getting together and enjoying a great time. Sooo Shangri-La, dahlings.

Remember, palanggas, "You can’t lose if you stay with our Lord’s game plan." Smile. See you.
