Pinoy archers ipinagmalaki ni Gregorio

MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagmalaki nitong Huwebes ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Patrick Gregorio ang matagumpay na kampanya ng Philippine archery team sa nakaraang Youth Archery Championships na idinaos sa Bukit Gombak Stadium sa Singapore.

Pumana ang mga national youth archers ng kabuuang 13 gold, 10 silver at 7 bronze medals sa nasabing three-day event para sa mga atletang may edad 18-anyos pababa.

“This is the resurgence of Philippine archery,” ani Gregorio kasama si PSC Commissioner Edward Hayco sa ginawang courtesy call ng national archery squad.

Tumudla ng gintong medalya sa huling araw ng event sina Mariano Matteo Medina sa U15 recurve men’s, General Marc Bangoy sa U18 recurve men, Leila Jell Cano sa U18 recurve women, Mateusz Vaughn Johnson sa U18 compound men at Abigail Lim sa U21 compound women.

Nag-ambag ng pilak sina Chass Mhavien Colas sa U18 recurve men at Zac Zayco sa U18 compound men.

Ang tropa ay giniyahan nina world-class coaches Ryu Su Jeng, tinulungan ang South Korea na manalo ng limang gold medals sa 2016 at sa 2020 Olympics, at Hong Sung Chil, isang gold medalist sa 1999 World Championships.

“It’s time to bring back the glory days of Philippine archery. Para sa bayan ito,” wika ni World Archery Philippines (WAP) president Bing Reaport sa pagsapaw ng mga Pinoy archers sa mga pambato ng China, Hong Kong, Chinese-Taipei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Laos at host Singapore.

Ipinadala ng PSC at WAP sa nasabing torneo ang kabuuang 21 archers, limang coaches at limang team officials.
