MMDA exempts Bar examinees from number coding

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has granted Bar examinees an exemption from the number coding scheme on Sept. 9, the Supreme Court said.

According to the SC, the MMDA has exempted bar exam takers from the coding scheme when traveling to and from their respective local testing centers in Quezon City, Manila, Makati, Pasay, Taguig and Muntinlupa.

Examinees were ordered to “place a visible copy of their Notice of Admission on the windshield of their vehicle.”

While registration is voluntary, the SC urged the examinees to sign up from Aug. 14 to Sept. 3 for only one vehicle. Substitutions or changes after the registration are not allowed.

“For verification purposes, examinees must indicate their Bar Examination Number and are strongly advised against publicly disclosing this to prevent misuse of the exemption,” the Supreme Court said.

MMDA Chairman Don Artes ordered all traffic enforcers to recognize the exemption and extend the necessary assistance to the examinees.

In case of apprehension, the SC said the examinee or driver must present the Notice of Admission to the apprehending officer.

To avoid contactless apprehension, the notice must be displayed on the vehicle’s windshield, the high court added.
