Michael Leyva’s new atelier is harmonious by design

A premier destination for timeless design and modern style, Michael Leyva’s new atelier at The Peninsula Manila makes things happen.
During its inauguration, he brought together people from various colors of the political rainbow in one harmonious moment — united by their friendship with him and their love for his artistry in cloth.
The ceremonial ribbon was snipped by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and Senate President Chiz Escudero, with Makati Mayor Nancy Binay and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano. There was a special place also for Michael’s mother Merly and Kris Aquino’s son Joshua.
How does Michael become a lynchpin for harmony?
“Just be yourself,” he says. “Be faithful and loyal to friends despite any differences.”
“Sincerity and a pure heart are also needed,” he stresses.
Located in the center of Makati’s most prestigious avenues, Michael Leyva’s new shop is a curated sanctuary of design—where beauty intersects with modernity, and every creation is a testament to Filipino craftsmanship at its finest. The opening of this 125-square meter space is an embodiment of Leyva’s vision for a world-class fashion experience rooted in culture, values and creativity.
“You could say I am coming out,” quips Michael about his new showroom. “In the past, my shops were ‘patago’, so to speak,” he elaborates. “It’s the first time I am having a showroom.”
“This atelier is the realization of a dream,” shares the former flight attendant. “To open within The Peninsula Manila — an icon of grace, opulence, and legacy — is a deep honor. I wanted to create a special and fashionable space for the people who inspire me: my muses and clients, who have become dear friends and who have helped me immerse myself in this industry and pushed me to where I am today.”
With soft neutral textures, iconic art pieces and custom-made interiors, the atelier offers an intimate and contemporary atmosphere. Designed for personalized service and private fittings, it also showcases Leyva’s most celebrated pieces such as the red terno of French lace of the First Lady and several formal wear of his muse, Heart Evangelista, who was in Malaysia during the inauguration of the atelier.
The grand opening was also attended by Manila’s most stylish and influential figures.
Recognized for his signature romantic silhouettes and dedication to feminine design, Michael Leyva continues to elevate Filipino fashion.
“My Peninsula Manila atelier marks the beginning of a new chapter — where sophistication meets top quality artistry,” he says.
