Man about town Ernest Escaler celebrated his birthday at the Grand Ballroom of the Dusit Hotel in Makati City.
The businessman and philanthropist was surrounded by his longtime friends from the business and social communities as he marked yet another significant milestone in his life.
If he had his way, Ernest would have opted to celebrate his 70th birthday quietly. But his well-meaning friends encouraged and successfully convinced him to commemorate this new chapter in his life. Ernest agreed as long as it was done in the spirit of thanksgiving.
Thank you for a delightful evening, Ernest, and many happy returns!

Your columnist had the honor of hosting a dinner for a lovely group of ladies affectionately called “Johnny’s Angels.”
At the dinner held in Chef Jessie at Rockwell in Makati City, we enjoyed a splendid array of dishes as well as fascinating stories and conversations the entire night. It was a wonderful celebration of friendship and life’s blessings.
Thank you for a brilliant evening and I will see you in the next one, ladies!
A valuable contribution
Anchor Land Holdings Inc. president Beth Ventura (center) turns over a coaster to (from left) Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) executive director Dr. Rachael Marie Rosario, Best Dressed Women of the Philippines (BDWP) selection and organizing committee member Roselle Rebano, event chairperson and Angola Consul Helen Ong and PCS board member Kelly Salvador.
Anchor Land Holdings Inc. (ALHI) provided a huge boost to the Philippine Cancer Society’s (PCS’) cancer awareness and prevention programs as the former recently made a valuable donation that will benefit the members of the underprivileged sector.
Led by ALHI president Beth Ventura, who herself was a PCS 2014 Best Dressed Women of the Philippines (BDWP) awardee, the leading residential property company officially turned over a coaster to PCS represented by executive director Dr. Rachael Marie Rosario, BDWP selection and organizing committee member Roselle Rebano and event chairperson Angola Consul Helen Ong with PCS board member Dr. Kelly Salvador.
The coaster will allow PCS to reach smaller communities where disadvantaged Filipinos may be provided with more medical equipment and diagnostic tests for cancer prevention.
Kudos to Anchor Land Holdings Inc. for this generous contribution!
