Season of giving
Doing its share of spreading holiday cheer is the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (MPPC), a topnotch five-star hotel in the Queen City of the South, which recently held its traditional lighting of the Tree of Hope. The hotel is under the leadership of general manager Julie Najar.
The remarkable event also gave way to the season of giving as MPPC encourages everyone to share his or her blessings by pinning a Christmas ball worth P200 to the Tree of Hope until Jan. 5, 2016. The proceeds will be given to the beneficiaries of the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
Cheers to Julie and the entire MPPC team for this meaningful endeavor!
Colors of the holidays
Green, red and gold — the colors of Christmas — adorn the huge Christmas tree that dominates the Alcatraz Lobby of the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Mactan Island, Cebu.
The luxury resort welcomed the holiday season with a Christmas-tree lighting ceremony that was attended by the resort’s media friends, travel partners and hotel guests.
At the ceremony, the resort’s affable general manager Efren Belarmino assured a refreshingly different Christmas celebration “away from it all” for guests opting to spend the holidays at the colonial plantation-styled resort.

A wonderful white Christmas
EDSA Shangri-La Manila officially welcomed the year’s most festive season with its annual Christmas-tree lighting ceremony held at the hotel’s Grand Lobby. Leading the wondrous event were Shangri-La Philippine properties area general manager and Makati Shangri-La general manager Alain Borgers and EDSA Shangri-La Manila general manager Amit Oberoi together with special guests Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. and wife Menchie.
Guests were mesmerized as they walked into a “white winter wonderland” complete with snowflakes, glittering lights, a snowman, ice castles, a brilliantly-lit Christmas tree that changes colors and, much to their surprise, a magical snowfall.
The night was a celebration in honor of the community where the topnotch hotel has been a part of for the past 25 years. Loyal patrons, corporate accounts, celebrities and in-house guests were introduced to the children from Isla de Cocomo Learning Center, the beneficiary of Shangri-La’s Embrace program for 19 years.
What a wonderful way to celebrate the season!
Celebrating Yuletide cheer
Marco Polo Ortigas Manila’s Christmas-tree lighting ceremony and Festive Decors launch were held at the Sky Lobby located on the hotel’s 24th floor.
Marco Polo Ortigas Manila general manager Frank Reichenbach, Samuel Po and Pasig City Mayor Maribel Eusebio officially lit up the 16-foot crystal Christmas tree as well as the entire façade of the hotel.
Marco Polo Davao director of sales and marketing Pearl Maclang welcomed the thrilled guests, who were serenaded by the Sisters of Mary Boystown Children’s Choir.
In the spirit of the season, the hotel also spearheaded the “Toys for Tots” donation drive — an initiative for its project SMILE. Guests were invited to place toys under the hotel’s Grand Crystal Christmas Tree for the said project.
The night ended with a few words from Bishop Chito Sanchez of Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation. Singers Migz and Maya enjoined the crowd to their wonderful musical set.
Greetings of peace and joy to all!
