Beauty & artistry

Designer Ann Ong launched her Botanical Renaissance collections recently at Vu’s Sky Bar and Lounge of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila.

A celebration of beauty and artistry, the fashion show gathered the society’s finest who all donned shades of green accentuated by their exceptional Ann Ong piece.

The fashion event also highlighted the humble beginnings of Ann together with her artisans. Her creative work is part art and part advocacy. Ann always gives credits to her plateros in helping her achieve greater heights as they move forward in the accessory and jewelry industry — here and abroad.

I first saw an Ann Ong piece worn by Linda Ley. I commented on how beautiful her bracelet/cuff was and Linda sent me an Ann Ong cuff to give to my mother, which my mother loved. My mother occasionally checks for the latest Ann Ong goods she can find as Ann comes out with new and exciting designs.

Ann is a Filipino accessory designer who bagged the three prestigious Katha Awards for Best Product Design in Fashion given by the Center for International Trade Expositions and  Missions (CITEM). She just opened her store in Hong Kong (1202 Yuen Yick Building, 27-29 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong) and is continuing her craft, which she does so well.

Test your #Diskarte

Unlocking the spirit of diskarte (technique or tactic) among men, Nivea Men held a fun-filled activity at TriNoma. The event was held to underline the Filipino’s ability to get through any situation and still come out looking fresh, cool and definitely well-groomed.

Country manager for Beiersdorf Philippines Konstantin Stremme talked about the concept of diskarte with hosts Chico Garcia and Delamar Arias. For Stremme, diskarte captures the Nivea Men battle cry “It Starts with You.” He said, “Nivea Men products address the concerns of today’s dynamic men, answering their unique needs through products that work to boost their diskarte. We believe looking and feeling fresh gives confidence, which is the first step to unlocking every man’s potential to achieve and overcome challenges. That’s where diskarte begins.”

Three teams of five tested their diskarte. The challenge culminated with each team looking for a man of diskarte from the crowd to join a dating game with Korean model Jinri Park.

The event also featured booths men of diskarte could check out, which included a game area where guys played Xbox games and basketball. There were also a photo wall and a refresh zone where they tried Nivea Men products.

The Nivea Men: Test your #Diskarte  event showed that when it comes to grooming, the brand’s wide range of men’s skincare products is with no doubt the Filipino’s trusted partner to boost the diskarte he needs.

The telecom company is offering the device exclusively to its distinguished customers through its premier postpaid brand Globe Platinum.

The ultra premium device got its name from its Sleek Edge Screen feature, which not only adds dimension but also enables a seamless multitasking experience with applications running independently on the gadget’s prominent surface. This secondary display makes for additional screen options like folders, application controls, personalized messages and ticker-style notifications.

Note Edge also boasts of brighter, clearer images from its powerful 16-megapixel Smart OIS rear camera and 3.7-megapixel front-facing F1.9 lens camera that allows for 120-degree wide angle shots. The device also powers up in a flash with faster charging time and higher battery capacity (3000mAh) that allows it to zoom from zero to 50 percent in only 30 minutes.

During its unveiling last year, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge made waves with the announcement of limited distribution in only 22 countries.
