A fun, patty party!

The Moment Group’s Abba Napa, Eliza Antonino and Jon Syjuco.

The Moment Group, the company behind the hit burger joint in Greenbelt called BurgerBar, unveiled its spin-off 8Cuts Burger Blends at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell with an afternoon party for special friends. Owners Jon Syjuco, Abba Napa and Eliza Antonino welcomed guests to their newest baby.  They also own Cue, Phat Pho and Namnam.

The highlight of the afternoon was a custom-made Grind Station, which allowed guests to customize their own patty blends combining any of the eight cuts of beef — chuck, rib eye, short rib, sirloin, brisket, hanger, flank and ox tail.  Guests also had the option to order the restaurant’s signature blends: the House Blend, a combination of short rib and rib eye; the Beef Bomb with chuck and short rib; the Big Game with hanger and brisket; the Steak Cut with sirloin and chuck; and the Ox Blend with an intense, umami flavor, from a combination of flank, oxtail and rib eye. The customized patties also served as the party’s giveaways and guests got to take them home and grill the patties themselves! I took home the House Blend, which is one of my personal favorites, as well as the Ox Blend!

The Grind Station simulated the unique Blend Kitchen of 8Cuts and its process of “blend-grind-press-griddle-build.” Its handcrafted process uses the highest quality US beef; each patty is guaranteed freshly ground, custom-blended and seared to order. The 8Cuts Burger Blends team created slider sizes of all five blends for guests to taste and enjoy, together with crowd favorite onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks with classic milkshakes in tasting sizes.

A new addition to the menu also made its debut — the Sundae Sliders. It is the satisfyingly good ice cream sandwiches in interesting flavors, which guests just couldn’t get enough of.

Garlic Garcia and I pigged out on fries with mushroom truffles, a burger and a half each, a glass of milkshake each, and some dessert sliders. Garlic had given up at that point!

The afternoon fun was heightened by a “visit” from Burger Bear, BurgerBar’s resident mascot dressed up in football gear. Enjoyable games like “Guess which blend” and “Pin the cuts on the cow” kept guests busy vying for the coveted top prize:  free burgers for the rest of the year, and a limited edition 8Cuts “Patty Like a Rock Star” tee. I didn’t even bother to join the games as I knew I wouldn’t be good at them but I went home with an 8Cuts apron as a gift from the owners. Can’t wait to have these oh-so-juicy and delicious burgers once again!
