High tea & high fashion
Select media friends were escorted by EDSA Shangri-La Manila director of communications Cristina del Carmen to a splendid afternoon of high tea and high fashion.
The award-winning luxury hotel proudly presented an elegant high tea parade alongside the holiday collection of international fashion designer Pia Gladys Perey at its newly refurbished Lobby Lounge. Live, sexy jazz funk and champagne by Taittinger kept spirits high as the Lobby Lounge’s brand-new chandeliers, all 3,600 sampaguita crystals, danced overhead.
Hotel general manager Patrick Schaub highly recommends executive pastry chef Martin Frowd’s Filipino version of high tea — traditional Filipino favorites infused with modern French flair like the pili nut and shredded coconut scones, Spanish sardines with kesong puti and ube opera cake, all served in three-tier, gilded birdcages. Themed high tea is served daily at the lounge from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
See you there!
‘Passion of Christ’ cast party
Still on a high following the much-lauded production of the Parish of St. James the Great’s Passion of Christ play, the cast and crew gathered together for a much-needed “reunion” of sorts. Mouthwatering spread of pasta, salad, fish, beef and pork dishes, as well as an assemblage of sinfully decadent desserts, were enjoyed by the guests.
The dinner party, graciously tendered by Ricky and Laly Castro and their children Ines, Jade and Michael at their posh home, once again brought together some of Ayala Alabang’s most religious and illustrious residents in a night of fellowship and fun.
The event also served as a post-birthday celebration for the lady of the house. Passion of Christ is the brainchild of the late Cheding Arroyo, a production spearheaded by Laly Aldeguer.
Well done, all!
A memorable Marian journey
The endearing Minerva Tanseco recently took the time off to have a “spiritual recharge” as she joined a Marian pilgrimage to Portugal, Spain, France and Italy. After leaving her prayers of petitions for her loved ones at her favorite church in Rome, Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Minerva took the opportunity to have her picture taken in front of the well-known Catholic pilgrimage site.
May you continue to grow in your spiritual life, Minerva!
