Sizzling Superbods in Boracay

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

Beach bodies and sexy outfits dominated the party island of Boracay when Century Tuna held the grand finals of The Superbods SuperChallenge 2014 at the Pearl of the Pacific.

Century poster girl Anne Curtis donned a sheer high-slit blue dress over her toned body. A night of transformation, the event saw the big revelation of John Lloyd Cruz’s leaner body after losing 18 lbs. in six weeks, along with the presentation of the before-and-after physiques of Boys Night Out’s Slick Rick, Tony Toni and Sam YG. The event was hosted by Joey Mead-King.

The Mr. and Ms. Superbods 2014 title went to Mauro Lumba and Sara Polverini. First runners-up were Alaiza Malinao and Marneil Anthony Lim, while Catherine Almirante and Laurens Tolenaars were second runners-up. Judges of the competition were Tessa Prieto-Valdes, STAR’s Tim Yap, Doris Dumlao, Dennis Lustico, Ariel Comia, Patty Betita and Greg Banzon.

Special awards were given to Race Winners Paula Marciano and Miguel Lasala, Mr. and Ms. Congeniality Grace Murillo and Marneil Anthony Lim, Superbods Photogenic awardees Alaiza Malinao and Miguel Lasala, Superbods Transformation awardees Darlene Anderson and Miguel Lasala, and People’s Choice Diane Tan and Mauro Lumba.

An after-party at The District followed with celebrities like Gretchen Fullido, siblings Antoinette and Tom Taus, Maricel and Anthony Pangilinan and China Cojuangco-Gonzalez.

The event was made possible by Air Asia Zest, Carbtrim, Pearl of the Pacific, San Mig Zero, Solaire Resort and Casino, Belo Sun Protect, Gardenia, Medicard, Smart, The District, Zen Wellness Spa, Azur, Bite Me, Gardenia, Black Market, Nereku, Pink Salmon Clothing, SM Supermalls and SM Mall of Asia, Tony Galvez Salon and Victor Ortega Salon.

Bruno Mars in Manila

Grammy Award-winning artist Bruno Mars once again set the stage on fire and mesmerized his Filipino fans when he had a one-night concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

It was PLDT Home’s most powerful broadband, Fibr, that brought the Hawaii native singer to Manila recently.

Mars set the pace for the night’s performance with Moonshine, off his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox. With his live band The Hooligans, he performed the following songs: Treasure, Locked Out of Heaven, Marry You, Billionaire, Lazy Song, Grenade, Just the Way You Are, When I Was Your Man and Gorilla.

He also proved his versatility with a drum solo that made his audience excited all the more for his music. Mars’ Filipino grandfather was seated in front of us as he proudly showed photos of him and his half-Filipino grandson.

Watching him live was great but Fibr subscribers can also enjoy intense, concert-like music performances at home with TVolution. The TVolution connects to any HDMI-ready TV and allows customers to stream blockbuster movies and TV series straight from the Internet, using their PLDT Home Telpad or any Android device as remote control. Its features include 4GB of internal data storage, a microSD card slot, WiFi, bluetooth, HDMI input and output and two USB ports.

On top of hundreds of high-definition movies from Clickplay and TV shows from MyPinoyTV, TVolution users can also access more content by downloading applications like Spinnr, powered by SMART Music; and EA Games through PLDT Home’s knAPPsack. TVolution also gives Fibr subscribers a multitasking TV through applications like Kingsoft Office. Subscribers will also have the ability to use their TV sets to surf the Internet and play games, both online and offline.

Watching Bruno Mars on the screen can be as good if I don’t have the luxury of watching him live all the time.
