Violin virtuoso

MANILA, Philippines - Lovers and students of the classical violin will have a field day on Feb. 8, Saturday, at 8 p.m. as the brilliant Joaquin Maria “Chino” Gutierrez performs at the Insular Life Auditorium of the Insular Life Tower in Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang. The concert Revelry: Live, Love, Dance will feature the 23-year-old violinist as he plays immortal pieces of César Franck, Igor Stravinsky, Antonín Dvořák, among others.

Chino is set to return to Germany where he is enrolled at the prestigious Munich State Academy of Music and Theater.  A consistent winner at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), Gutierrez began his career at age seven under the tutelage of world-renowned Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata. Chino will have accomplished pianist Corazon Pineda Kabayao as collaborating artist at the concert sponsored by Fil-Fest Foundation.
