A celebration of creativity & individuality

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For three consecutive years, Pony Footwear has been celebrating the unique vision and creativity of today’s young artists with its Pony Show Off! Digital Film and Poster Art competition.

Pony Footwear has long been associated with sports and rock icons. Part of its pop culture appeal lies in the fact that it celebrates creativity and individuality. With the competition, Pony reached out to the youth and encouraged them to express themselves and their unconventional ideas. The young talents answered with an inspired attitude that voiced out their thoughts and beliefs.

The brand went to schools around Metro Manila and encouraged digital and short film mavericks to get creative. Along with the promise of cash prizes and coveted Pony shoes to the winners, the brand challenged them to unleash their full potential and interpret its slogan “Let’s Get It On!” by way of poster design or a short film, showcasing Pony products and the attitude that the brand exudes.

In a rousing awarding party held recently at Insomnia Bar in Centris, Quezon City, Pony showed off the digital entries with a little bit of rock n’ roll.

The chosen poster artworks were exhibited at the venue, along with a screen that showed the digital short entries chosen as finalists that would be competing for the top prizes.

Hosted by Patrick Moore and Joyce Pring, the event was highlighted by the attendance of Pony celebrity brand ambassador Valeen Montenegro, music video director Nani Naguit, ABS-CBN star and Annaliza cast member Carlo Aquino and Star Circle’s newest batch member Jon Lucas. Top fashion bloggers Seph Cham and Trice Nagusara handed out the special acknowledgements for the social media category, featuring entries in the Poster Art and Digital Film categories that garnered most “likes” on Facebook.

The awarding was also laced with performances from bands like Absolute Play, Jejaview, Save Me Hollywood and Alex in Wonderland led by the inimitable Alex Medina, who took off his shirt and shoes and even jumped up on the seats of the booth in front of the stage! The lovely Isabelle de Leon, meanwhile, toned down the mood a bit with an acoustic performance. The night ended with a bang as the “Masters of Mayhem” band Wolfgang ripped through their set.

The winners for the Poster Art category are: Undefeated by Roland Gutierrez (grand winner); Pray by Josephine de Jesus (second place) and Break The Rules by Jammaica Mae Ignacio (third place).

For the Digital Film category, the winners are: Fire Up by Danny John Kalinga of the Technological University of the Philippines (grand winner); Moms Know Best by Vanz Kristian Lavado of CIIT-College of Arts and Technology (second place) and ‘Wag Po Koya by Jeffrey Ramir Mateo (third place).

Each winner for both Poster Art and Digital Film categories received cash prizes: Grand winners received P40,000 cash plus P10,000 worth of Pony shoes; second place winners received P20,000 cash and P5,000 worth of Pony shoes; and third place winners received P10,000 cash and P5,000 worth of Pony shoes.

â€œPony Show Off! 3” was presented by Pony Footwear and supported by Outdoor Products, Wet ‘N Wild, Clavel, Flippish.com, Orange TV and Jam 88.3.
