‘Music Heals’

Over 50 artists recently gathered for “Music Heals” at the Radio Republic parking area in Makati City. The benefit concert was devoted to the victims of Typhoon Maring, which left thousands of Filipinos displaced and grieving over lost loved ones. It was also aired live via Ustream through Radiorepublic.ph with special in-studio interviews for those who couldn’t make it to the event.

Performers who participated included Kjwan, Spongecola, Cambio, Brigada, LDP, Stick Figgaz, Quest, Thyro and Yumi, Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel, Jim Paredes and Buboy Garovillo, Jay R, Christian Bautista, Nyoy Volante, South Border, True Faith, Brownbeat All-Stars, Flippin’ Soul Stompers, Cocojam and Pinoy rock legends Jun Lopito, Wally Gonzales and Sampaguita.

Other artists in the local music scene who did amazing sets during the concert included Hans Dimayuga, Jennifer Blair-Bianco, Triple Fret, Moonwalk, Bullet Dumas, The Slinks, tide/edit, Farewell Fair Weather, Anyo, Brisom, Duster, Flying Ipis, Conscious & the Goodness, Malay, Humanfolk, Krissy & Ericka, Steady Machine, Domino and Ginoong Vitalis. Other highlights of the event included the participation of the Elements Music Camp, Radiorepublic.ph staff and crew, and artists from different fields who were seen in the audience.

The 15-hour show was hosted by news anchor Boyet Sison, Sanya Smith and Ornusa Cadness, YouTube sensation Bogart the Explorer, Aryn Cristobal of SPIT Manila, Zach Lucero, Joyce Titular and Kelley Mangahas of Radio Republic, cultural activist and performing artist Carlos Celdran and theater actor Jamie Wilson.

The Philippine Red Cross was also on site to accept the donations that served as the door charge. “Music Heals” was under the very able hands of renowned director Juno Oebanda of Creative Control Group (CCG). Together with his team and Jaime Godinez of Soundcheck who contributed most of the equipment, Oebanda made sure the event was a huge success.

“Music Heals” was conceptualized in only two days but the outpouring of support was tremendous. Women nowadays have the tendency to neglect their own health because they lead busier careers and personal lives. They experience fatigue, paleness and lack of focus or concentration due to iron deficiency.

In order to cope, she needs to pay attention to her health. Iron-rich food such as red meat, egg yolks, legumes and green leafy vegetables should be made a regular part of one’s diet. But more than that, an iron supplement is also necessary to maintain good health.

More than what the eye can see

The launch of Nokia Lumia 925 at Salon de Ning of The Peninsula Manila heralded the most advanced imaging technology from the communications company. Nokia Philippines general manager Karel Holub welcomed guests to the event.

Nokia PAN Asia marketing head Gary Chan said, “The Lumia 925’s six-lens camera allows us to deliver the best camera performance both in daylight and poor lighting condition. The improved optical image stabilization for the Lumia 925 can compensate for all hand movements, regardless in which way you’re holding the phone.”

Nokia Philippines product manager Mike Smith showed how the Nokia Smart Camera application allows you to take multiple shots in just a single click and edit pictures after.

Personalities who attended the event got a chance to use the Lumia 925 to capture the images of two ladies in low-light conditions. Nokia also provided a venue for the audience to capture boxing movements using Lumia 925’s camera. Nokia gave away two units of the smartphone that night.
