Celebrating the Global Pinoy

The recent MEGA Pinoy Pride Ball that honored 10 “global Filipinos” was one of the very successful affairs held at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La.

Organized by MEGA fashion magazine, led by its editor-in-chief Sari Yap, the annual event was well-attended, with the guest list comprising the biggest names in fashion, business, government, society and entertainment.

Business magnate Tony Tan Caktiong of Jollibee, journalist Maria Ressa, American Idol Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez and Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra are some of the prominent names included in the 10 Global Pinoys.

The second half of the evening bannered a live, suspense-filled finale episode of the MEGA Young Designers Competition: All Stars where twins John and Paul Herrera emerged as winners.

The night seemed endless in the midst of gourmet Filipino cuisine, powerful musical performances, fine wines, avant-garde fashion and congratulatory exchanges.

Congratulations, Sari and here’s to more MEGA events! Dance diva’s day

Well-loved by her many friends, ballroom dancing proponent Becky Garcia was treated to an elegant post-birthday dinner by her close friend Central Affirmative Company Inc. president and CEO Joel Cruz at the chic Red restaurant of Makati Shangri-La.

The small party included Becky’s Greek-German husband Dr. George Sarakinis, Italian Ambassador Massimo Roscigno and wife Agnes, Cory Quirino, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, Jo Pintor and Aficionado Germany Perfume corporate purchasing manager Francis Sanchez.

Wishing you only the best in life, Becky! Saving the Philippine Eagle

A fundraising event promoting current efforts to protect the Philippine Eagle from extinction was held at the legendary Manila Hotel in line with its centennial celebration.

The event, organized with the Philippine Eagle Foundation, was held during the Philippine Eagle Week with Manila Hotel senior vice president Ginny Banaag leading the rites.

Fashion designer Renee Salud made a special donation by designing the special bridal wear for two Philippine Eagle Limited Edition collectibles that were put up for auction, while Pastry Bin owner Penk Ching created a cake for the event, in the likeness of “Mabuhay,” the third-generation Philippine Eagle born and raised in the care of the foundation.

Bravo!
