Once again, the highly anticipated golf tournament in the Philippines — the Manila Golf and Country Club Golden Tee — was a tremendous success!
The 43rd Golden Tee Invitational Tournament was a collaboration between the Manila Golf and Country Club board of directors led by president Dindo Litonjua and special board adviser Macario “Uncle Mac†Te. The event was also graced by its generous supporters like CATS Motors Inc.’s Felix Ang and Greg Yu, Toyota Motors, Grand Hyatt Manila Residences, Federal Land and Lexus Manila’s Alfred Ty and Danny Isla, Lucerne’s Ivan and Emerson Yao, Pacsports’ Teofilo Eugenio and Philippine Airlines’ Michael Tan.
A round of applause should also go to Gaita Fores of Cibo di M and brothers Alex and Clifford Lichaytoo of Bacchus International Inc. for presenting to the over 800 members, participants and guests the best cuisines yet in any golf tournament. As guests were enjoying the sumptuous feast, the Highway 54 band played soft music.
The awarding ceremonies went on without a hitch. Edwin Arcilla was awarded by Alfred Ty and Lexus Manila Inc. president Danny Isla with a new Toyota 86 sports coupe as his prize for being this year’s lone hole-in-one winner. The raffle at dinnertime was another most awaited “event within the event.†Business-class tickets for two to the West Coast, Toronto and various Asian destinations were won by lucky guests through gracious sponsors Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and Delta Airlines.
Our dear friend Oscar de Venecia was awarded a Hublot Big Bang watch by Lucerne’s Emerson and Ivan Yao, while Vic Reyes won the grand prize, a Toyota Altis 1.6 G. This annual social event just had too many exciting things happening that it was literally impossible to squeeze everything into a single report.
Congratulations to one and all, especially to those who conceptualized, supported and implemented the vision that has resulted in the continued dominance of the Golden Tee as the major tournament in the country’s golfing history.
And my special thanks to Macario Te, Dindo Litonjua and all the board members of the Manila Golf and Country Club! Bravo and see you again next year!
When designers meet
The Philippine Institute of Interior Designers College of Fellows, led by its chancellor Johnny Hubilla, gathered recently at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati City to discuss its mission and vision for 2013. The members also discussed other important matters that would help the organization meet its goal of improving the professional practice in the country and globally.
More power to you, Johnny!
