Wear red, save a heart

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

The heart of a woman matters.

St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) Global City, one of the best hospitals in Asia in terms of services, facilities and interior design, recently held an event called  “Wear Red Day” in support of the American Heart Association initiative to help increase awareness for women’s cardiovascular health.

The hospital’s “Wear Red Day” festivities, spearheaded by the Heart Institute and Women’s Heart Health Unit head Dr. Maria Adelaida Iboleon-Dy, also included a fashion exhibit at the main lobby and an intimate dinner with “heart health” supporters at its Piano Lounge. Romantic red gowns created by three of the country’s top fashion designers Avel Bacudio, Frederick Peralta and Renee Salud were put on display at the William H. Quasha Pavilion.

SLMC Global City Heart Institute director Dr. Jose Nicholas Cruz and Dr. Iboleon-Dy led the dinner program with a thanksgiving message for those who supported the event. Manned by all-female cardiologists, the Women’s Heart Health Unit is the only facility of its kind in Southeast Asia that provides women with a unique venue to seek consultation and education about their cardiovascular risks.

Kudos to St. Luke’s for its efforts in improving women’s health!

Maria’s ‘Indian Sale’

Minerva Tanseco held one of her legendary lunches to match an “Indian Sale” organized by her good friend Maria Allgeier at the former’s spacious and tastefully decorated unit at the Ritz Towers in Makati.

Guests were impressed with the jewel-colored sari cloths, caftans, embroidered pieces and Bollywood accessories Maria brought in.

Maria is now based in India where her husband Reiner is assigned as the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry representative.

Come back more often, Maria!
