Disney’s magical Christmas

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

With Christmas just around the corner, SM Megamall kicked off its first ever celebration of Mega Magical Christmas with Hong Kong Disneyland. The celebration featured exclusive entertainment performances, interactive activities and exciting vacation packages at the famed amusement park.

Managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Andrew Kam said, “The Philippines is one of the top three international markets for Hong Kong Disneyland. It is our great pleasure to be invited by SM Megamall to spread the Disney magic and create this Mega Magical Christmas celebration for the very first time in the Philippines.”

President of SM Supermalls Annie Garcia added, “SM Megamall celebrates the holidays by remembering all things that make Christmas merry: music, laughter, indulgence, gift-giving and the spirit of sharing. All these captured by Hong Kong Disneyland.”

During the three-day event, a snowy castle was built at the event center. With this as the backdrop, beloved Disney friends Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse performed in their Christmas outfits in a brand new entertainment show called “Snow Time.”

Guests who visited the event center also enjoyed exclusive vacation packages, including free upgrades to the Hong Kong Disneyland two-day ticket, Magic 2-in-1 coupons and premium gifts. Guests who purchased Hong Kong Disneyland tour packages with Visa credit cards were also entitled to join a lucky draw for an upgraded hotel and tour experience.

A 30-foot-tall Christmas tree decked with Mickey and Minnie toys was displayed at the Kids Zone located at the Mega Atrium. This festive display, together with a Toy Storyland-themed photo corner located at the upper ground floor of Building B, will be open to the public until Jan. 6, 2013.

The ceremony also welcomed 50 children from Nayon ng Kabataan Center in Mandaluyong City upon the invitation of the SM Foundation. The children met and greeted Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and each of them was given a Christmas gift pack prepared by Hong Kong Disneyland. The theme park will also donate more than 800 Mickey and Minnie toys to a number of centers under the Department of Social Welfare and Development through the SM Foundation.
