For the love of man’s best friend

MANILA, Philippines - The unconditionally loving and loyal “man’s best friend” needs some loving, too.

Pet Project will launch its first-ever fundraising event on Nov. 17, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., at Whitespace in Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City.

Established in 2012, Pet Project is an art fundraising activity pioneered by Tina Fernandez, owner and creative director of Artinformal, with the cooperation of visual artists in the Philippines. The project aims to help sustain the goals of CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) Welfare Philippines, a non-profit, non-government organization that solely relies on private donations.

CARA Welfare Philippines aims to promote compassion for animals and responsible pet ownership; prevent cruelty and abuse to animals; reduce the overpopulation of homeless street animals through spay and neuter; maintain a low cost spay/neuter clinic; educate citizens, organizations and barangays about animal welfare and the rights of animals; and provide caring and responsible homes for its member’s rescues through its adoption program.

The fundraising event will consist of an exhibit featuring the artworks of over a hundred local artists, an education presentation by CARA Welfare Philippines, pet adoption, and souvenir and merchandise sale.

Proceeds will be donated to CARA to help fund its Save the Pitbulls project.
