A tradition of pageantry and prestige

The 2012 Manila Polo Club Annual Horse Show was all about celebrating a tradition of pageantry and prestige. Riders looked dapper in their riding coats as they effortlessly guided their trusty steeds. This colorful and renowned tradition started in 1966.

The two-day activity kicked off with a traditional dressage competition followed by the Equestrian Association of the Philippines’ National Indoor Dressage Championship in elementary, medium and advanced categories. Next to be showcased was the Federation Equestre Internationale World Jumping Challenge. The event concluded with the AHS Show Jumping Competition.

The horse show, being a worthy endeavor, earned the support of staunch patrons like the Italian kitchen appliance brand SMEG.

It was indeed a nice afternoon watching my friends like Karen Fabie-Concepcion, Jeena Llamas-Lopez and Vanna Calalang Severino in action. Nice work, ladies!

For surfing enthusiasts

A shop that “pulsates with adventure, travel and youth” recently opened to give surfing enthusiasts “a certain kind of high.”

Stoked Inc. managing director JV Borromeo opened the first Rip Curl concept store at the Alabang Town Center. Rip Curl is an international manufacturer and retailer of surfing sportswear.

JV said, “Rip Curl’s vision is to be the ultimate surfing company. We were motivated to open a shop because we were inspired by that wonderful sense of discovery we call ‘The Search’.”

Stoked Inc. and Rip Curl began their partnership last year and this saw the entry of the latter’s products at all Stoked Inc. stores.

“This 90-square-meter shop is home to the finest apparel and gear, whether you want to surf, wake, skate or simply look awesome while enjoying the beach life. It’s also a great place to meet up and hang out with your friends, perhaps chat about surf and adventure. It’s engineered to immerse you in the beach life,” says Rip Curl Philippines brand manager Lorraine Lapus.

At the launch, guests enjoyed food and drinks by Tides Grill and Bistro.
