20 years of sharing & caring
The International Care Ministries (ICM) is a non-government organization that helps thousands of marginalized Filipinos in Visayas and Mindanao. ICM recently held its 20th anniversary celebration at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La with over 200 guests, including Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Deputy House Speaker Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III and his father, former Sen. Wigberto Tañada.
ICM was able to raise P1.6 million for its various health, livelihood, education and values formation community projects that night. The gracious hosts of the evening were led by ICM board chairman and Morgan Stanley Asia CFO David Sutherland and his wife Deanna, board member and Goldman Sachs executive director Jovi Zalamea, ICM co-CEOs Dan Owens and Helen Turner, and long-time ICM supporter Daphne Ceniza-Kuok.
The program was highlighted by inspiring stories from ICM recipients and donors in the past 20 years. There were also musical numbers from the ICM Children’s Choir and Jude Matthew Servilla, a child recipient who won a singing contest in the TV show, Eat Bulaga.
ICM recipients mainly benefit from its life-transforming trainings, feeding, children’s education programs and various efforts to urgently address medical emergencies and disaster mitigation needs. ICM is primarily funded by committed donors from Hong Kong and has made an impact on the lives of at least 250,000 Filipinos. ICM hopes to increase the number of its program recipients, which totaled 96,000 last year.
