Enjoying the VIP treatment

A fabulous appreciation party was held at Dusit Thani Manila’s Lobby Lounge for the patrons of Dusit Wine & Dine, a membership program where guests get to enjoy discounts, perks and privileges at the luxurious Makati hotel and other Dusit properties globally. A lavish cocktail spread, with specialties from the hotel’s exquisite dining outlets — Umu, Tosca and Benjarong restaurants — was prepared by executive chef Christian Werdenberg for the VIP guests. Joining Dusit Thani Manila GM Prateek Kumar at the event were Dusit Wine & Dine project director Ashley Skinner and F&B director Gilbert Uy.

That’s wining and dining, the Dusit way!

A serving of high notes and spicy dishes

Never forgetting his hometown roots, Muebles Italiano president and CEO Noel Gonzales, with his wife Eileen, hosted a dinner musicale for the benefit of Our Lady of Peñafrancia Parish’s construction of a new church in Daet, Camarines Norte. Held at the Music Hall of the classic European furniture store in Alabang, the Taste Daet, Taste Bicol featured performances from well-known virtuosos — soprano Fame Flores, tenor Dondi Ong and child tenor Kris John Paul Gonzales. It also offered a buffet of mouthwatering, hot and spicy dishes using fresh coconut milk and local chilies — the famous Bicolano way of cooking!

That was a heartwarming gesture, Noel!

The good life

Bringing its tagline “Start the good life” to reality is the brilliant and philanthropic Robinsons Homes team led by Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) president and COO Frederick Go and VP for sales and marketing May Precilla. The team recently joined the new TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition in changing the lives of those who are in need. Robinsons Homes, known to provide themed, master-planned, secure and gated horizontal subdivisions in key urbanized cities nationwide, continues to prove that there’s always a chance for everyone to start the good life. Robinsons Land, along with its partners and other sponsors, helped build a new home for the Rivera family in Bulacan. The Riveras’ former house fell into disrepair decades after it was built. This monumental effort has jumpstarted RLC’s corporate social responsibility efforts on community stewardship to help improve the living conditions of our fellow countrymen.

Congratulations to Frederick, his efficient team and partners who made this project possible!

Reunion of ‘Escolarinas’

The people behind the Escolarinas (Women of Substance) High School ‘72 Grand Reunion: (From left) Doctors Magdalena Villaba and CEU Alumni president Paz Lucido with Crystal Yaptinchay, your columnist and Prof. Miriam Azupardo Tamayo.

Celebrating its ruby anniversary at Tagaytay Highlands’s China Palace was the Centro Escolar University (CEU)-Mendiola High School Batch ‘72. Seeing each other together again after 40 years, the “Escolarinas” had a great time reminiscing the good old days in the campus. As the night’s main event, the Escolarinas Got Talent portion was a rousing surprise — everyone was a star in her own right.

Spotted among the crowd were Dr. A. Duque Memorial Hospital director Dr. Marissa Soriano, Harriet Abordo, Tita Enriquez, Marigene Garcia, Dr. Zeny Malilay and Josephine Masacupan.

Thank you very much to CEU Alumni Foundation, Inc. board director and batch coordinator for Tagaytay Highlands Prof. Miriam Azupardo Tamayo for making this event possible.
